TRIAD

Trial for Reducing Infection After Arthroplasty with Dilute Povidone-Iodine

What is TRIAD ? : TRIAD is a multicentre, registry-nested clinical trial evaluating whether dilute iodine wash before wound closure reduces surgical site infection after primary hip and knee replacement compared with saline.

Why TRIAD matters ? : Infection after joint replacement can be devastating. TRIAD will determine whether a simple, low-cost antiseptic lavage can meaningfully improve outcomes for patients undergoing hip and knee replacement.

Who is conducting TRIAD? Coordination is by the Australian Orthopaedic Association Clinical Trials and Analytics Unit and the Trial Sponsor is the Australian National University.
